Dr. Stefano Basile is a renowned gynecologist who practices at the Minihospital Sandro Pertini and the University Hospital of Pisa (AOUP). He holds a position as a senior medical officer in the Complex Operational Unit (U.O.C.) of Obstetrics and Gynecology, second-level, within the National Health Service (SSN). This department is a third-level center for childbirth assistance, and the AOUP’s birth unit serves as a reference point for high-risk pregnancies, providing care for both healthy and pathological newborns, including those born before 29 weeks of gestation or with a birth weight of less than or equal to 1000 grams.

His duties include assisting with labor, delivery, and postpartum care, managing obstetric and gynecological hospitalizations, performing gynecological and obstetric surgeries, including uro-gynecological surgery, and utilizing minimally invasive surgical techniques such as hysteroscopy and laparoscopy. Dr. Basile is also available as an on-call physician for obstetric and gynecological emergencies and performs genital and laparoscopic surgeries.

In addition to his clinical activities, Dr. Basile holds responsibilities such as being the Head of the Urogynecology and Pelvic Floor Clinic, where he manages outpatient services for vulvoscopy, diagnostic and operative hysteroscopy, gynecological and obstetric consultations, ultrasounds, intrauterine device insertions, and other outpatient procedures.

Dr. Basile earned his degree in Medicine and Surgery from the University Campus Biomedico of Rome with top honors, a PhD in Gynecological and Obstetric Sciences from the University La Sapienza of Rome, and specialized in Gynecology and Obstetrics at the same institution.
