Stefano Basile is a gynecologist who carries out his activity at the Sandro Pertini Minihospital and the Pisan University Hospital (AOUP) and holds the position of medical director in the second level Obstetrics and Gynecology Complex Operational Unit (U.O.C.) of the Service National Health System (NHS). This department is a third level center for birth assistance, and the birth unit of the AOUP is a point of reference for high-risk pregnancies, providing care for healthy and pathological newborns even with gestations of less than 29 weeks or with a neonatal weight less than or equal to 1000 grams.

Its activities include assistance during labor, childbirth and postpartum, the management of obstetric and gynecological hospitalizations, gynecological and obstetric surgical interventions, including uro-gynecological surgery, and the use of minimally invasive surgical techniques such as hysteroscopy and laparoscopy . Basile is also available as a doctor on call for obstetric and gynecological emergencies and carries out genital and laparoscopic operations.

In addition to clinical activities, Basile has roles of responsibility, such as being the Head of the Uro-gynecology and Pelvic Floor Clinic, managing vulvoscopy clinics, diagnostic and operative hysteroscopy, gynecological and obstetric visits, ultrasound scans, insertion of intrauterine devices and other procedures outpatient.

He participated in training courses and scientific events, such as a course on good practices in obstetrics and gynecology and a course on the clinical use of the subcutaneous contraceptive implant Nexplanon.

Basile obtained a degree in Medicine and Surgery from the Campus Biomedico University of Rome with top marks, a PhD in Gynecological and Obstetric Sciences from the La Sapienza University of Rome, and specialized in Gynecology and Obstetrics at the same university.
