The prostate is a fibro-muscular gland that is part of the male urogenital system.

Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH) is the most common prostate condition characterized by:

  • Predominantly affecting individuals over 50-60 years old.
  • Narrowing of the urethra, causing obstructive symptoms (difficulty urinating, incomplete bladder emptying, etc.)
  • Irritative symptoms typical of bladder instability such as frequent urination (pollakiuria), urgency, blood in the urine, etc.
  • Secondary complications from urinary strain and urine retention in the bladder, leading to infections, hernias, and possible bladder stones.
  • In severe cases, kidney function impairment and even renal pelvis dilation.

Specialized Follow-up Care

Specialized Follow-up Care and repeat PSA testing at 3-6 months, then annually, to monitor the effects of pharmacological therapy or to discuss potential surgical intervention, with specific blood tests, ECG, anesthesiology consultation, and chest X-ray.
