Maria Cristina Bianchi

Dr. Maria Cristina Bianchi graduated in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Pisa in 1985.
She specialized in Neurology in 1990 and in Diagnostic Radiology in 1994 at the same university.
She previously served as a First-Level Medical Officer at the Neuroradiology Unit of the Pisa University Hospital, where she worked from 1992 to 2022, holding responsibility for neonatal and pediatric MRI diagnostics.
She completed periods of training and advanced education abroad at internationally renowned institutions, including Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia, the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (USA), and the Huntington Medical Research Institutes in Pasadena (Los Angeles, USA), with a particular focus on advanced neuroimaging techniques and functional MRI.
She served as a reference specialist for MRI diagnostics and collaborated in scientific research at the IRCCS Stella Maris Institute of Child Neuropsychiatry.
Her main clinical and scientific interests have focused on neuroradiology in both adults and developmental age (neonatal and pediatric), with particular emphasis on advanced neuroimaging techniques (proton MR spectroscopy, MR perfusion, diffusion imaging, and tractography), as well as the study of brain tumors and metabolic brain disorders.
She has participated in numerous courses, congresses, conferences, and seminars as a lecturer and speaker in the field of neuroradiology and advanced neuroimaging.
She is the author and co-author of numerous scientific publications, some of which are indexed in international databases.
