Dr. Massimo Campana graduated in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Pisa and specialized in General Surgery at the same university. He also obtained a specialization in Digestive System Surgery and Surgical Digestive Endoscopy at the University of Siena. Throughout his career, he has held various positions at the ASL 6 of Livorno (now ASL Toscana Nordovest). He has performed surgical procedures both electively and in emergencies, using both open and laparoscopic techniques as the primary operator in emergencies since 1995. He also served as the Deputy Chief of Staff from 2000 and has been in charge of the Professional Section of Laparoscopic Surgery since 2005. Regarding his personal surgical case load as the primary operator from November 1988 to November 2020, Dr. Campana has performed approximately 8500 surgeries, including ordinary, emergency, and day hospital procedures of varying complexity, using both open and laparoscopic techniques.
