The pediatrician specializes in diagnosing and treating illnesses in pediatric and adolescent patients. In addition to common childhood illnesses such as exanthematous diseases and otitis media, the specialist also deals with gastroenterological conditions (celiac disease, food intolerances, inflammatory bowel diseases, dyspepsia, gastroesophageal reflux disease) and less common disorders such as endocrinological disturbances (metabolic disorders, obesity, thyroid disorders), as well as rare diseases (autoimmune diseases, idiopathic precocious puberty, hyperinsulinism), and numerous genetic syndromes.

It is advisable to consult a pediatrician not only for regular check-ups but also in case of suspected infections, persistent cough, diarrhea, vomiting, or skin rashes. The pediatrician can be consulted for feeding difficulties, food intolerances, suspected nutritional deficiencies, or overweight; behavioral, sleep and attention disorders as well as growth and developmental issues.

The pediatrician can provide advice on necessary vaccinations and their timing.

The pediatric visit and in-depth tests

The pediatric visit serves to assess the child’s overall health status, monitor their growth and development, prevent diseases, diagnose any pathologies, and prescribe necessary therapies or interventions. During the visit, the pediatrician checks the blood pressure, height, and weight of the child, performs objective examinations, and listens to any concerns or reports from the parents regarding their child’s health.

During the pediatric visit, if necessary, the pediatrician may prescribe various diagnostic tests depending on the child’s clinical situation.

Among the possible visits: pediatric visit, auxological visit, musculotendinous ultrasound, newborn screening ultrasound, abdominal ultrasound, skin and subcutaneous tissue ultrasound.
