Ultrasound
Ultrasound is a simple and minimally invasive examination that is very useful for understanding the condition of internal tissues and identifying any mutations. It relies on ultrasound technology: sound waves are emitted from the probe and return distorted depending on the composition of the tissue they encounter. The instrument then translates these waves into images and displays them on the monitor.
ltrasound is one of the preliminary examinations performed on the human body to study its composition. It is very useful for studying the neck, abdomen, pelvic area, arteries, and veins, but it cannot analyze bones and the cranial cavity. Often, ultrasound is accompanied by another type of examination, called color Doppler ultrasound, which highlights blood flow within tissues using colors.

How is the ultrasound performed?
Once completed, the patient can immediately resume their daily activities. It is strongly recommended for the patient to bring the results of previous ultrasounds and specialist visits to the appointment, so that the doctor can have a detailed overview of the situation.
Useful information
It is advisable to bring any previous ultrasounds performed on the same body district.
How to prepare?
Typically, the patient doesn’t need to prepare in any specific way for an ultrasound, except in some cases where it might be necessary to drink plenty of water or fast. Please inquire for more information at the time of booking.
The technology
At the MiniHospital “Sandro Pertini,” the area dedicated to diagnostic imaging is equipped with one of the best state-of-the-art instruments.
