Paolo Fontanive
CARDIOLOGIST
Dr. Paolo Fontanive graduated in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Pisa and specialized in cardiovascular diseases and internal medicine at the same university.
Until 2020, he worked as a hospital cardiologist at the Cardiology Units 1 and 2 of the University Hospital of Pisa. He completed approximately 2000 emergency shifts and was co-responsible for the cardiac ward in the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (UTIC) and the hospital ward.
His diagnostic activities mainly involved baseline and stress electrocardiography, baseline and stress echocardiography, and transesophageal echocardiography, evaluating patients with heart failure, ischemic heart disease, valvular heart disease, and arrhythmias. He also provided follow-up care for decompensated heart failure patients, adult and pediatric oncology patients, and dialysis-dependent kidney patients.
He attended advanced cardiac centers both in Italy and abroad and the study center of the National Association of Hospital Cardiologists (ANMCO). He taught cardiology as a contract professor at the anesthesia and resuscitation school of the University of Pisa. He regularly participates as a lecturer in courses on echocardiographic diagnostics. He is a fellow of ANMCO and a congress reviewer. He has delivered approximately 300 presentations and moderated sessions at national congresses, many of which he organized himself. He is a co-author of over 200 scientific papers and 29 articles in journals indexed by PUBMED.
Areas of expertise: diagnosis and treatment of chronic coronary syndromes, valvular heart diseases, heart failure, arrhythmias, hypertension, and cardiovascular prevention.
